The Cussons Baby Moments Season 3 competition promised to be exciting and indeed it was!

This season’s competition featured 2 categories-the maiden edition of the Toddler Grow and Shine contest(age 2-5yrs)with Imisioluwa Oladapo emerging the winner and Baby of the Year contest (age 0-3yrs) with Nina Grant emerging the 2016 winner.

The Cussons Baby of the Year 2016; the third edition, recorded a total entry of over 500 contestants. The top 10 finalists were selected using a combination of judges selection and public votes. The panel of judges who sat to select contestants at 2 different stages include- Mai Atafo, Yetunde Babaeko, Mercy Aigbe-Gentry and Obi Somto.When asked about their expectations, Mercy Aigbe said she was looking for the contestant that will give her the ‘X-factor’ while Obi Somto thought babies are such cuties and that it’s going to be hard selecting a winner.

The Baby of the Year grand finale held on Sunday, February 28th, 2016 amidst pomp and splendour.

Managing director PZ Family Care- Alex Goma gave the welcome address with a quote from one of Whitney Houston’s songs ‘I believe the children are our future, teach them well and let them lead the way’.  

Oritsejolomisan Nina Grant was crowned the Cussons Baby of the Year 2016. Amidst celebration and excitement, she was rewarded with N1,000,000 educational grant, Haier Thermocool refrigerator, a year’s supply of Cussons Baby Products, shopping voucher, and a certificate. 

The 1st and 2nd runners up were Similola Alexis Onabanjo and Obianamma Adele Anammah respectively. Similola Alexis Onabanjo was also rewarded with a N500, 000 educational grant, a Haier Thermocool Generator, Shopping Voucher, Cussons Baby products and a certificate.

Obianamma Adele Anammah was rewarded with a N250, 000 education grant, Cussons Baby products, Haier Thermocool Microwave, Shopping Voucher and a certificate

There were four other special category awards that sought to recognise and reward babies with very unique attributes. These categories were, Baby Gat Swag, Baby Trendy, Toothy Smile and Best Costume.

Winners of the special categories are KanyitochuwuUche-Anyanwu for Baby Gat Swag, Tioluwanimi Martins Adetunji  for the Best Costume, Obiajulu Obiabaka for Baby Trendy and Oritsejolomisan Nina Grant for Toothy Smile category. They were all rewarded with Cussons Baby products, an award certificate, shopping voucher and a Smart Activator learning tablet individually.

After a tough deliberation that required the judges to meet the final Top 10 contestants individually, a decision was made. Contestants at the fourth to tenth position were rewarded with Cussons Baby products, shopping vouchers and certificates. 

Also present at the grand finale were the Top 20 babies from the competition and their parents, Helen Paul who was the M.C. for the day, PZ Cussons members of staff and other invited guests.

Big congratulations to all the winners and best wishes to baby Oritsejolomisan Nina Grant during her reign as Cussons Baby of the Year 2016.
