PZC Foundation Donates Youth Center At Onikan


It was an exciting day at Onikan when the Governor of Lagos State, His Excellency, Mr Akinwunmi Ambode  commissioned a Youth Centre constructed by PZ Cussons Foundation on Friday, 28 August 2015. The world class centre as described by the Governor was thereafter handed over to the Ministry of Youth and Social Development, Lagos State for use by the youths of the Community.

Mr Christos Giannopoulos, in his speech, stated that the Onikan Youth Centre was created to encourage youth empowerment, mental and physical development and community bonding. He also added that an Event Hall was created to generate some income to assist in maintaining the Centre.

His Excellency, Mr Akinwunmi Ambode, immediately directed the electrical connection to the IPP Grid of Lagos State to ease the power requirements for the centre. He also urged other private sector organisations to follow in the footsteps of PZ Cussons Foundation by executing projects that will positively impact the members of the are greatly beneficial to the society.

Chief (Mrs) Nike Akande, CON, in giving the closing remarks, appealed to the Ministry of Youth and Social Development to put necessary measures in place for the maintenance of the centre and full utilization of the Event Hall. She also stated that youth empowerment and mentoring programs must be put in place to attract youths to the centre.

The event also had in attendance, the Oba of Lagos – Oba Rilwan Akiolu; a large number of other Lagos State Government dignitaries and chiefs; the Chairman of PZ Cussons Nigeria Plc, Chief (Dr.) Kola Jamodu, CFR; Mr Christos Giannopoulos, Member, Board of Trustees, PZ Cussons Foundation representing the Chairman of PZ Cussons Foundation, Prof Emmanuel C Edozien, CFR; Chief (Mrs) Nike Akande, CON and Mrs Yomi Ifaturoti - Board members of the Foundation

Train The Teacher Scheme MoU Signed
